Aside from a year that saw the men's cross country team earn its first national ranking in a decade, and 13 Mountain West track & field champions during the following spring, Colorado State shined academically, with several team and individual accolades.

Former Colorado State cross country and track & field student-athlete Christian Meyer was honored with the Mountain West's Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. The conference made the announcement Tuesday.

Colorado State Athletics announced Friday the recipients of the department's annual awards for the 2013-14 season, recognizing six student-athletes for their outstanding contributions in competition and in the classroom.

Sixth-three Colorado State student-athletes earned a record total of 74 Scholar-Athlete awards from the Mountain West for their work in the classroom during the 2013-14 academic year. The conference made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

A record number of 101 Colorado State student-athletes earned academic all-conference accolades for their work in the classroom during the spring season.

On Monday Head Coach Brian Bedard announced that long-time assistant coach Tim Cawley will be leaving Colorado State to take over the head coaching position at the University of Idaho. Fellow assistant, Cathleen Cawley, will join him up in Moscow.
