After capturing its first conference championship last fall, Colorado College women's cross country head coach Ted Castaneda was hoping to complement his group of experienced returners with some talented freshmen in 2015.
The Colorado College women's cross country team is ranked fourth in the West Region according to the 2015 preseason regional rankings released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Alex Nichols, a 2008 Colorado College graduate and currently an assistant cross country and track coach at the school, won the Pikes Peak Marathon Sunday in Colorado Springs.
